DIOCESAN SYNOD (31 AUG-02 SEP 2008) The 25th Diocesan Synod will commence this evening with a worship service at All Saints’ Cathedral. It will be followed by two days of meetings where issues pertaining to church, community and country will be discussed and decisions will be made through voting. The Diocesan Synod comprises of delegates from churches of the Diocese forming three Houses; The House of Bishops (Bishops), The House of Clergy (Priests and Deacons) and the House of Laity (Non-ordained pastors and lay-representatives of churches). The Synod meets every two years. The Synod will also elect 10 members (Hon Secretary, Hon Treasurer, 4 members from House of Clergy, 4 members from House of Laity) into the Standing Committee who serve in-between the Diocesan Synods. The Standing Committee advises and assists the Diocesan Bishop in all matters connected with the finance and administration of the Diocese. All Bishops and Archdeacons are ex-officios. The Bishop may also appoint 3 members into the Standing Committee. The delegates representing Christ Church Likas for the 25th Diocesan Synod are Ven Canon John Yeo, Rev George Chong (non-stipediary), Mr John Chee, Mr George Lim and Mr Jeffery Chen
