GROWN UP

It was another historical milestone for Christ Church Likas.  The daughter-church Church of Our Redeemer planted fifteen years ago had her first Annual General Meeting and elected her first Parochial Church Council last Sunday.  It was witnessed with great joy by the PCC of Christ Church.

The Annual General Meeting and the election of the first Parochial Church Council are positive signs of growing up.  It is also necessary in the spiritual journey and maturity of a church.  COR now stands as a grown up having her own leadership team and charting her own direction in the Lord.  Like an eaglet leaving its nest, COR now soars on its own and depends on the Lord for direction, wisdom, strength and providence.

As we rejoice in COR's spiritual milestone, we also remember with gratitude the pioneers of this church.  Her history began with Rev Simon Chin leading a few members from Christ Church visiting the housing estates of Kolombong.  This humble beginning led to the starting of a children outreach (Sunday School) and other community-related activities.  The faithful labor, love, patience and hard work bore fruits of a congregation of more than 100-strong today.

COR's ministries include two worship services, a weekly prayer meeting, Bible study, and children and youth fellowships.  Through the faithful giving of her members and support of Christ Church, they have acquired two units of shoplots being their worship sanctuary, a rectory and two church vans.

The first PCC of Church of our Redeemer are Ven John Yeo (Priest-in-Charge), Pastor Janet Lee (Resident Pastor), Chin Syn Foh (Priest's Warden), Ng Nyuk Fatt (People's Warden), Chin Ching Ching (Honorary Secretary), John Liew (Honorary Treasurer), Kong Fung Eng (Member), Peter Chong (Member) and Chin Soo Yun (Member).
